Sunday | February 24, 2019: rest
Notes:
- I’d really hoped to exercise more Monday since I had the day off for the holiday, but I rested most of the day since I was still dealing with my cold. Happily, I felt well enough to teach class (and glad no one had to partner with me since I was still coughing/draining).
- Gosh, my run on Tuesday felt SO. GOOD. It was sunny out with hardly any wind and I hadn’t run since Saturday morning… and I just felt so good and comfortable. What a way to start the week! After my run my face was red for the rest of the day and I thought it was some exercise/getting over a cold combo. At the end of the day I finally realized it was a sun burn, ha!
- I had Friday off work and asked Rachel if she wanted to take some time off to run together, and she was game! Yay! I asked her before I realized the weekend weather would be absolute sh*t (rain most of Saturday, crazy high winds most of Sunday), so I’m glad it worked out to do a long run on Friday in the sun and low winds.
- I broke my ten year Frosty Footrace 5K streak by not running it on Sunday. I’m not in shape to race a 5K and wasn’t interested in doing it. And of course, it was wacky windy weather like it is so often for that race. I slept in Sunday, spent the morning lazing about, had lunch out with friends, then ran errands. A perfect day, minus the errands. And seriously, it was so windy that my car trunk didn’t want to open or shut.
- I felt a lot better at the end of the week than the beginning, yay! I think I’ll be able to start back up with speedwork next week. I am kind of thinking about doing a 5K the second weekend in May.
Sounds like a good decision to skip the race Sunday given the weather and how you were feeling. Beautiful views on your Tuesday and Thursday runs!
I randomly ran in to the friend who did the race yesterday and he told me it was .1 mile short this year, and told me how freaking horrible the wind was! I am glad I skipped it.
It was so nice to have those two sunny runs in the city!!!
In my life I have run only 1 time with snow (and ice), here the weather is always “good”.
Wise decision to skip the race if you don’t feel good. Most of us don’t follow the saying “listen to your body”.
Aww, I am glad you don’t have to deal with it often!
