- Ugh, NOW they tell me! We’re already on season 4! Ha ha, oops. If we finish Game of Thrones before the April premiere of the final season, we’ll start watching Lilyhammer. Game of Thrones is the only series I’ve ever rewatched. And the only series* I’ve watched “live” (starting with the sixth season). *Although in college, I’d watch the most current episode of America’s Next Top Model on their website the day after it aired. I didn’t have a TV in college.
- Talking about TV is pretty boring, so props to you if you made it past the first bullet.
- I finished Chrissie Wellington’s book. In the second half, she started talking about training and racing, which I enjoyed much more than the beginning of the book, which was about her childhood, work, and travels (which you would think would be interesting…). This Goodreads reviewer feels the same way was me, which made me feel less bitchy for how much I disliked the beginning of the book.
- I started the novel The Only Woman in the Room. It’s historical fiction about Hedy Lamarr, the Austrian actress who married an arms dealer in the 1930s, and learned secrets about the Third Reich’s plans while at her husband’s side during business meetings. Spoiler alert: she flees her husband and moves to America and becomes an actress again (her husband made her quit when they got married) and uses her knowledge to invent something… but I don’t know what yet, because I haven’t gotten to that part of the book, ha. It’s a quick read that I’m enjoying. I want to check out the other books by Marie Benedict.
- Ha, the lady sitting next to me on the train Tuesday saw me reading The Only Woman in the Room and asked how it was. We had a short conversation about books, then she recommended Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine to me. I should add a column to my reading log as to WHY I am reading the book I am. I forget who recommends them or if I just grabbed them off the “new books” shelf!
- Yep, and that’s all I have going on – watching Game of Thrones, and reading. And running. And working. Another quiet-ish month over here!

I’ve rewatched GoT so many times, I think I’ll just rewatch last season.
Aw look at Khali being goofy!
What did you think of Season 7? I remember not loving it as much as earlier seasons. I am anxious to watch it again though!
She was being such a goob!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just started including a note on my Goodreads account to remind myself where I got the rec from, when I add a book to my “to-read” list. I’m interested in seeing whose recommendations suit me the best!
I have The Only Woman in the Room on my TBR so I’m interested in your thoughts!
Also, I love searching Goodreads reviews when a book I’m reading isn’t resonating with me or I vehemently hate. It’s nice to know I’m not alone and, often, they say the things I’m feeling so much better than I do!
That’s a great idea! Cause I never remember by the time I get the book!
I am really enjoying it so far!
Yes! It’s amazing to find that reviewer that shares my thoughts so clearly, when they feel all jumbled in my head!
I totally need to make a note of where I get recommendations from, too! I recently read a book that was decent, but I have NO idea why I picked it out from the library. I had it flagged as a book I wanted to read in Libby, so something obviously happened that made me flag it, but I don’t have a clue what that was and I’m really curious!
How do you think you will keep track of it? Make a list? I keep hoping that if I share books here people will tell me if they read it or recommended it. I get recommendations and ideas from so many places!
You know, we could rewatch all of GoT ahead of the next season…or we could do what we always do, which is to pester our kadults after each episode. WAIT WHO WAS THAT? WAIT WHY DID HE DO THAT?? They love it. 😉
OMG that’s so fun! I hope you share some of your funnier convos about that with us this season!!!
Khali looks like a baby in that picture! Cute!
I read Elinor Oliphant last year, it was a very quirky, different kind of book. I enjoyed reading it even though it’s not my usual thing. And my mom lent me a book by Marie Benedict, the one she wrote about Albert Einstein’s wife…so she must specialize in historical fiction about real women, interesting. I haven’t read it yet, it’s still on the pile on my nightstand (which keeps getting bigger…) Will be interested to hear how you like it!
She still plays like a young kitten sometimes!
Ahh cool, I wonder if I will like it! Is it quirky in writing style, like doesn’t use quotation marks for dialogue or anything? I read a book like that last year and it really threw me off.
Yeah, I saw Benedict wrote two other historical fiction books! I finished this one over the weekend and liked it!
You were only one day behind, right? Are you going to finish in time? We’re definitely going to have to rely on recaps we find on YouTube!
We are way ahead – already in season 5, so we will finish early! I can give you a recap, ha!
