Notes:
- I was traveling most of Monday and in training Tuesday and Wednesday and did not prioritize working out. Obviously.
- I’ve gotten out of the habit of checking the weather until right before I do something, so I didn’t know it was going to snow Thursday. That made for a slippery run! I would have run with or without it, but I should probably start looking ahead at the weather again, since we are in snow season.
- It’s also bloody nose season! I’ve been getting them at really convenient times, like while waiting for the train Wednesday, as I started to run a conference call Thursday, and during my run Friday. We have a whole house humidifier, but maybe I need one right by my face.
- Sunday’s run was tough. My body felt sore from doing back-to-back strength workouts after more than a week off them. Now that my calendar is less busy, it’s time to get back to a more normal workout routine! My body feels crummy from working out less (and eating poorly) the last month and a half.
- I missed my 12h Runniversary! It was on November 10th! I’d like to celebrate by giving away a $12 Starbucks giftcard (not sponsored, this is from my own cash). One reader will win. To enter, leave a comment telling me you want to enter. You can enter until 9:00 cst on Wednesday November 21st. Random.org will pick the winner. I will announce the winner in the Random Thoughts Thursday post on Thursday November 22nd.
I want to enter 🙂 I am not enjoying the fact that we already have to look at things like wind and snow. It’s so sad to me. I hate winter running.
It seems early this year, right?
I’ll always enter a good giveaway :p I think its been just over 10 years since I took up running as an adult.
Its also a weird time of year for keep up the motivation to workout. I’ve found the last few weeks since the clocks change hard. Going to evening runs when it has already been dark for an hour seems wrong lol.
Awesome! What inspired you to start?
It does seem wrong! I am going to look at my training posts from last year and see what times of days I was running – and mostly to remind myself that I did run in the dark. It gets dark now and I am like “pajama time!” (at 4:30 pm)
Id like to enter please! I haven’t had a single PSL this year!
Are you a PSL fan? Every year I try a pump of pumpkin in my chai and regret it!
I don’t love them, but I feel culturally obligated to have one a year. The Christmas peppermint mocha however, I could have three times a day if my bank account would allow it
Ha! That is the one my husband loves too!
Love the new blog – it’s great! I keep meaning to prioritize strength workouts, and, ugh, they keep getting pushed to the bottom of the list. Also, as much as I like to run when I’m traveling, there are times when it feels more like a burden than like a release, so I’m less likely to run.
Thanks!
Why do you think that is? I know for me, it’s because I don’t get as much of a high from it!
Happy Runnaversary!!
Thanks!
I want to enter your sneaky little giveaway! 😀 You know I love me some SB (even though it gives me heartburn. :'( Why SB, WHY?!)
Sneaky sneaky. Hee hee.
I want to enter – loves me some Starbucks! So you’ve only been running for 12 years? Which, don’t get me wrong, is a long time – but I always thing that all the good runners out there have been doing it forever.
Ugh to the nosebleeds, that must be a pain. I don’t get them when I run in the cold weather but my nose does run and when it’s cold enough I wear a buff around my neck which also works as a convenient tissue. Mittens also work, but that wouldn’t be as good for a nosebleed. My runner friend Karen was getting them all the time when she ran (didn’t matter the weather) and finally went in to have her nose cauterized. She said it was the worst experience of her life and would never do it again, so if you’re thinking about getting that done…well, beware.
Aww, thanks for calling me a good runner! Yeah, I started in fall of 2006, when I was in college. I ran a bit for soccer in high school, but didn’t do track.
Oh wow, thanks for the heads up on the cauterization. I was wondering about that! Of course, I should try a nasal spray first. And maybe a humidifier by my face. I use my buff as a tissue too. And mittens. And sleeves. And that looks horrible because I wear a lot of color. Lesson learned – bring tissues and use BLACK accessories. At least blood washes out easy!
