I’m having a great summer. But I’m human. I need to complain:
- Why do manufacturers assume I want my paper towels and toilet paper to be BIGGER?! I do not! I have the feeling they do this to charge more for less, not give us more for less. And it’s definitely not for the environment (less waste and all that). (This annoys me because the bigger ones don’t fit in our holders well.)
- Am I really helping someone with a project at work by doing a role I have no idea how to do if I have to ask them what to do about everything? Or is it only making me frustrated and less confident?
- Why do the dentist fees on my explanation of benefits (EOB) not match the bill I was given at the dentist? Why are EOBs so damn hard to understand? Why did my dentist eff up my last appointment so much (I could write a whole post about that but I’m still too annoyed to. Hopefully I just forget all the details and don’t ever talk about it again.).
- Why wouldn’t Kohl’s let me exchange something via mail and insist I go to the store, even when I told customer support I couldn’t find that item in the store on my own? Why do they think I ordered it online?!?! BECAUSE I COULD NOT FIND IT IN THE STORE AND HATE SHOPPING.
- These deer fly bites. Ouch.
And some good things!
- We’ve been putting pumpkin in Data’s food and it seems to be helping with his poo! Yay!
- I got to do actual design work at work last week and this week.
- I have five days in a row off work coming up.
- At some point, there will be kittens in our home (probably August 1st or 2nd).
- We figured out who Beanzie is.
- I’m not running my fastest, but I feel acclimated to the summer heat and high humidity and dew point. It’s not completely wearing me out (yet).
- I’m the smallest I’ve been as an adult (after college) in the summer. Which is actually heavier than earlier this year, but I struggle the most with my eating in the summer, so I’ll take it! The goal is to maintain my weight and focus on losing again in the fall.
- I feel overwhelmed by everything on my personal (and work, sigh) calendar, but grateful for all the love and fun activities!
Thanks for listening/reading!
I’m doing project management training now (through the end of 2019 YAY) and one thing that was just covered is that adding extra resources to a project pretty much always lessens productivity for a while before realizing any gains, because there’s always a learning curve and training time. So to answer #2, no, but probably soon 🙂
Heidi has pumpkin with her breakfast too! It makes everything orange!
I hear you on summer running. Last week we were lucky enough to have dew points in the 50s in the morning, but it’s back up to the 70s now. And also on the weight stuff – I was doing really well until after my HM, then I started eating garbage while all the move stuff went on. Sigh.
And probably never, because I don’t want to be a PM in this division! They’ve gotta know that, so I wonder why they thought I’d be helpful. I think it just makes them feel better she is overloaded, having me assigned.
It does! Aww. Twinz.
Are you still eating like garbage or getting back on track? It’s hard!
Bingo – adding resources makes management feel better but doesn’t usually solve the problem.
Getting back on track as of this week. I tried on some work clothes for this conference I’m going to in a couple weeks and… yeah… I’m up a few pounds since my HM. It helps that Terry feels gross too, so he’s down with cutting the crap.
At least someone feels good!
Ahh good! You know what to do to get back on track! And it totally helps when your partner is on board!
In our house, John and I have to start all the TP rolls in our bathroom, and then distribute them to the rest of the house because the way we buy them, they are too fat for the other holders. Sigh….
OMG that is so damn annoying!!! What brand do you buy? I found the small version of the one we like at Woodman’s. I can no longer get it at Target or Walmart though.
We are super cheap and buy the kirkland brand at costco. My people go through SO MUCH TP. But the rolls are so HUGE.
I was out walking with someone on Saturday who spends most of their time indoors, and they were commenting on how uncomfortably humid it was, when I didn’t even notice it! I don’t spend *that* much time outdoors, I suppose, but I’m usually out for minimally 40 minutes per day (much more than that when I have a run on the schedule!), and I think it’s made a big difference in helping me acclimate – which in turn has helped make me (slightly) less miserable with how humid this summer has been in general. I’ll be honest: part of me secretly wants the heat and humidity to hold on through the end of September/first couple of days of October and then dissipate entirely, so I can ride the benefits of heat acclimation through the marathon before I lose it. Or it could get down into the 60s at the end of September/beginning of October and then drop down into the 40s for the marathon – I’d take that, too 😛
Yay! I am glad to hear you are feeling less miserable and a bit acclimated! Ha, and I bet you will get your first wish. It’s usually humid through September (minus a few glorious days) and sometimes well in to October!!!
The paper towels and TP sizing made me think of cell phone data plans. They seem to always increase the amount of data in the plan and charge you more, but my usage doesn’t go up commensurately. (This is why we switched a few years ago!)
I’m glad your eating is in a comfortable place right now, especially given the summer struggles. I know this is an on-going challenge, and I think it’s awesome that you’re celebrating your wins.
Oh yeah. And like, even the size of cell phone memory (at least with iPhone). They just make all these weird levels that don’t make sense to get you to buy more!
Thanks! I’d like to get more back on track now, so I feel better. But I am not freaking out about eating more junk as we’re busy with social stuff more of the time.
