Aww, teeny tiny cute containers of Body Glide!
You guys probably already know this, but Body Glide is a balm you apply on your skin anywhere you think might get rubbed while you exercise, to prevent chafing. I also use it when I am not working out. I keep it in my work backpack and use it for humid walks in the summer when I am wearing a dress or skirt.
So yeah, I already use the regular kind of body glide, “Body,” and it works well for me, except for on incredibly horrible humid summer runs, in which case I also double up with vaseline in my shorts area. Otherwise, it’s Body Glide all the way, because, yes, as it’s advertised, it’s not messy (easy to put on), and I don’t have to worry about it staining my clothes!
I had NOT used the pink “For Her” body glide before, and always kind of scoffed at it when I’d see it in stores, because it would be in a smaller container than the regular “Body” but priced the same. Looking at the Body Glide website now, they have “Body” and “For Her” priced the same, in the same sizes. So that’s good! That really set me off before – like, why do women have to pay more for this smaller pink container?! (And maybe it was the stores doing that?! No idea. Anyway.)
I asked Trent & Company about the difference between “Body” and “For Her,” and here is what they said:
The blue Body Glide is the original – it’s the primary formula, which serves as a base for all Body Glide products.
Body Glide For Her contains Coconut and Sweet Almond oils to better moisturize and protect skin, and is also rich in A, B and E vitamins to promote skin health.
So, it has oils to help your dry AF skin in the winter. The website says it’s ideal for sensitive, dry, cracked skin. That definitely describes me right now. We have a whole house humidifier, but our skin is still suffering. I’ve been using “For Her” for my indoor winter runs (on the treadmill and track), and when I am not working out (on the lovely body areas where my skin folds and it gets irritated, yay!). It’s definitely helping prevent chafing on the runs, and giving me relief on my dry skin in other areas! And bonus tip – you can apply body glide to chafed areas before you shower to cut back on some of the stinging of the hot water hitting those areas.
I have not noticed much of a difference between “Body” and “For Her.” They both feel good, to me. I am hoping using “For Her” is helping my dry skin, though!
A few more things:
- Theses products are listed as vegan, with no animal testing, and using plant ingredients. Yay!
- I actually liked using these smaller containers – it was easier to get in to certain crevices. Ha!
- Looking at their page, I didn’t realize they have so many options besides these two – there’s one for your feet, for outdoors, one with sunscreen, one for the bike, and others! I’d actually like to try the bike one. It claims you don’t have to reapply it during the ride! Wouldn’t that be nice?
Bonus pic of Khali wondering what the heck I was doing:

I hate when companies charge more for the “for her” product! Good to hear they’re the same price on the website 🙂 And I had no idea that there were extra moisturizing ingredients in the pink version. They should just go ahead and put that in th eblue version too 🙂
Right?! It used to make me nuts! I am glad they don’t do it on the website.
I wonder why the moisturizing stuff is not in the base! I suppose not everyone wants it! 😉
My main use of BodyGlide is on my neck – for wetsuit chaffing! But thank you for sharing details (such as no animal testing). I am curious about the bike product, and also the foot product.
Oh yeah! I’ve heard triathletes say how important it is to put glide there!
I am curious about the bike one too! Do you get blisters on your feet easily? A friend of mine uses glide there now; I wonder what is different about the foot specific one!
I’m also a fan of body glide! It is good to know that the pink version is actually different and is marketed at the same price on the website. I also scoff at “pink” things that look the same as the regular product. I am also interested in the bike product though I already have a favorite chamois cream product.
I tend to do the same too, so I was glad to finally learn what makes it different, ha!
Yeah, I wonder if a cream or balm is better for that area, you know?
I had the same issue as you when the pink Body Glide came out – why were they charging more? Glad to hear they’ve rectified that. I go between using BG and 2Toms, and I like them pretty much equally; I’m just glad they exist because they do help on my longer runs!
I wonder if a bunch of people complained!
Are those creams or balms? It is so great these products exist! I remember the first time my dad used body glide, when he started running, and he thought it was so great for that and doing his mechanic work.
Good idea about putting some on before the shower…..less of the burn lol. I didn’t know they did one for feet I might have to investigate that.
Yeah, in case you missed a spot… which sadly, happens. Even sometimes it’s the same spot over and over…
Let me know if you try it! I am curious about it. I don’t have foot blister issues, but have a friend who does.
If it is even remotely warm outside and I’m wearing shorts, I ALWAYS wear Body Glide. It’s only ever failed me in super terrible conditions (like eight miles worth of a relentless downpour), and frankly, I wouldn’t expect anything to withstand that kind of situation anyway. I started wearing it when I wear skirts to work, too, like you mention, and I felt so smart when I realized I could do that, haha. My sister’s training for her first half marathon and asked me if I had any compression shorts she could borrow since she was having chafing issues. I told her we needed to get her some Body Glide, STAT, and she hadn’t ever even heard of it *terrified face emoji*! I had an extra, unopened stick, so I gave it to her to help her see the light! (And experience the joy of chafe-free running.)
Aww, I am so glad you were able to help your sister out. That is something she NEEDS to know about! Did you tell her about the non-exercise use of it too?
Which half is she running?
She’s doing the Mississippi Blues Half Marathon! She lives in Jackson, so it makes sense for her. She asked me to run it with her, but doing that would’ve meant being in constant training from Jan. 2017-Dec. 2018 without a single break, so I declined (though I did feel awful about it!). I didn’t mention the non-exercise use, but given that she lives in such a humid climate, I’m sure that’d be good information to pass along! I’ll have to remember to tell her 🙂
Oh cool! A blogger friend of mine ran that and really liked it. And good call taking your training break. You can do the next one with her! And def give her the glide tip! 🙂
I’m happy to hear that BodyGlide started pricing the FOR HER product the same as the original product, but the gendered marketing still bothers me. I can’t read the text on the image in your post, but it used to be unbalanced: like the women’s focused on the scents whereas the “regular” focused on endurance. It just is another reminder that in our society, “male” tends to be the default.
Then again, I don’t use BodyGlide anymore. I’m glad the product is actually good though!
Yeah, it mentions things like being good for the bust line, etc. It’s not geared towards someone who may just want to use a balm with moisturizer in it. Definitely PINK AND FOR HER!!!!!!!
I can’t go with out, I always chafe but I always buy the blue. I like the full size for sure.
It is very dry here too – negative dew points..how is that possible after being in the rain forest all summer LOL
Isn’t it a shock to see NEGATIVE dew points now?!
I too was annoyed when Body Glide For Her came out and it was in such tiny containers, like, WTF. Also, I don’t understand why they just didn’t add the moisturizing stuff to the original, do guys not want supple skin … ?
I guess they don’t!
I used Body glide during my marathon (my only one). And I really liked it. The stick is still in my bathroom drawer. Now going on 6 years later. I wonder if it is still good?
I wonder too! I bet so, if it hasn’t dried out!
