- Happy first day of winter! The days only get longer from tomorrow until June 21!
- We saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi on Saturday. I didn’t love it, but was mostly entertained, which is all I can ask for when seeing a movie in the theater!
- Oh my gosh, poor Snow. I think his “friends” are hazing him. Every morning (and sometimes afternoon) we find his food bowl in a different spot – often in the middle of the yard!
- A pet peeve of mine is when someone asks me a question once, and I tell them “no” or “I don’t know” and they ask again shortly after. It’s still “no” or “I don’t know.” Come on. Nothing changed in the last few seconds/minutes. I STILL DON’T KNOW.
- Someone must have recently given out my blog email address because I am getting several emails a day asking me to post about products or share information for “immediate release.” Spam and unsubscribe.

I’m hoping to see the Last Jedi over the holidays and maybe catch up on the last two(?) movies which I don’t think I’ve seen…do I need to watch them first? I used to read the tons of Star Wars books when I was a teenager, my enthusiasm somehow got lost in the hype for it.
I hate repetitive questions too especially by email!
Hmmm. It would help to watch The Force Awakens. You don’t need to watch Rouge One – that takes place before A New Hope 🙂
Any particular reason why you didn’t love The Last Jedi? I think it was my favorite Star Wars to date–or maybe second favorite after The Force Awakens–but then again, I’m not particularly fond of any of the first six movies (I know, I know. I really think it’s because I didn’t watch any Star Wars movies until Rogue One, and was subsequently forced to catch up on the other seven as a condition to attending The Last Jedi with my friends. I’ve (I think understandably) gotten used to a certain level of special effects, given that I usually watch movies when they come out (or at least soon after they came out), so going back in time up to 40 years from a technology/special effects standpoint made all of the movies just feel really campy to me. I’d probably have a much different opinion if I had watched them 10 or 20 years ago.) I’ve also realized over the past year or so that I much, MUCH prefer to be entertained via humor than entertained via stress/drama (unless that drama is patently petty, like on The Bachelor or something equally unimportant and trashy), so I really liked all the funny moments in The Last Jedi – same reason why Ragnarok is probably my favorite Marvel movie thus far. And, I mean, the porgs. Obviously. The movie could’ve just been everyone sitting in a room reading their lines in monotone, but as long as the porgs were still there, that still would’ve been enough to make me like the movie hahaha.
I didn’t care for most of the plot, or any of the new characters. Quite a bit of the dialogue had me eyerolling (actually, I was making obscene hand gestures to Steven at the theater lol). I liked the humor though, even the characters that seemed to be there to be punching bags. Ha. I LOVED the porgs.
I wonder if many people watching the original trilogy now love it as much as watching it when it first came out, or in the following years, or after the re-release. Movie graphics are VERY different now (although the special effects in the original Star Wars got that all started)! And it’s 100% okay NOT to be fond of them at all! Everyone likes what they like! 🙂 Life would be boring if we all liked the same things.
I’ve seen Last Jedi twice over the weekend. First viewing was really great, but I had some questions about how things played out. Both were answered on the second viewing. For me, the last 3 Star Wars movies were really good. In order of likeness: Rogue One, Last Jedi, Force Awakens.
Yeah, let me know! I am wondering if a second viewing would help me. I actually got a bloody nose at the end and missed two important scenes. Oops.
I really struggled with Rouge One. But am glad so many like it 🙂
I am clearly open to partnering with brands (if it’s something I’m actually interested in) but lately, I’ve been getting so many emails about books. At first, they seemed to be at least related to running and/or fitness, but now they are the most random topics that I have zero interest in reading, let alone promoting.
I liked The Last Jedi, but I’m like you, I just want to be entertained in a theater. I don’t go in expecting much.
I wonder what the thought is behind sending out those random book topics. “Any exposure is good?! Maybe they’ll say yes?!”
That is the key to movies – don’t expect it to be good. Ever. Ha.
What kinds of questions do people ask twice like that? Is it like “What’s the weather going to be like today?” Harrison always teases me because I’ll ask him what he’s going to order when we go out to eat, and then I get so caught-up reading the menu that I’ll forget and ask him again. So maybe I’ve asked you the same question twice in a short span of time!
Ha ha ha! You haven’t done that to me! And I do stuff like to Steven – I forget if I’ve asked him something cause I am distracted, so I sometimes ask again. I need to pay attention to what I am doing!
This was a reference to work. Someone asked me if I had some information from something that happened last year, and I told them no, then they later asked me again, in the same day. “I still don’t have it” (and it wasn’t like I could obtain it).
