- Since Steven and I have been married, we switch whose family we spend Christmas day with each year (and always stay home for Thanksgiving). Steven’s family has odd years, so every odd year, we decide if we’ll celebrate with them in Kansas City, or Illinois. My family has even years, and we always spend it in Iowa. We typically see the other family in January (but not always – last year Steven’s family came here before Christmas because we knew we’d be in Kansas City in January to meet William). Anyway, all that’s just to say, now that we know what we are doing for the Christmas holiday, I am starting to get excited about it! Steven’s dad and brother will be coming here, so we’ll decorate again (we tend not to decorate if no one is coming!). I wonder if Steven will want to get a gigantor tree again (probably yes). I wonder what Khali will think of it! I wonder if my idea for a holiday card with the cats in front of it will work out (probably no).
- All of our holiday scents are ready, thanks to my Bath & Body Works obsession. I was definitely a bit too excited about this new candle scent (updated to add: I bought this myself):
- I have started ordering some holiday gifts. And thinking, will this be the year I finally make that scarf I bought the pattern and yarn (as a gift) for, what… two years ago now? Or is it three? I haven’t knit in a YEAR (this is the last thing I made)! I feel guilty about taking the time to do it, and nervous about complicated patterns. But most nights we watch a movie – I could totally be knitting during that time.
Happy gifts come in orange packages!
- I am doing a virtual streaking challenge from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day! It’s called the Holiday Mile, and the goal is to run, walk, or bike a mile each day in that time frame. I signed my mom up too, and created a group so people from my fitness studio can sign up. I like the idea of it being running, walking, or biking – running all those days in a row doesn’t work for me (my body can handle it, but it makes me no longer enjoy running when it feels like a chore).
- Oh, Khali. You do you.
Um, you forgot to mention if you bought that candle with your own money or if BBW compensated you for your opinions (wouldn’t it be nice if they did?!) π
I’m so glad you guys will be in town for Christmas since that means we should be able to see you while we’re there! π
Oh crap! Thanks for the reminder! I will edit it! I wish they compensated me π
Me too!!! I hope it works out! I will let you know when they’ve booked their travel and I had a better idea of our plans!
Aww… that photo of Khali in the night stand is so cute! I haven’t knit for years and I really should get back to it. I used to find it pretty relaxing and like you said, it can be done while watching tv in the evenings.
Thanks π What did you like to make? It is relaxing, once you get in to a flow with your pattern!
The virtual mile is tempting!
I bet Khali will love a tree! Fun to climb on lol
You thinking about it?
Ha, I think that is what she will think too. And playing with the ornaments.
Not too soon to mention Christmas. We’ll be in LA so I’ll miss seeing my family but I’m excited to get a tree etc. You should knit (says the non-knitterπ)!
Look at that pretty girl hiding π»
So you plan to decorate your friend’s place? Or will you be in your place by then?
Always “hiding” π
We’ll still be here, maybe until Feburary.
Cool! Are you gonna use your decorations, or your friend’s, or both?!
Thankfully I haven’t found any decorations so just ours π
Ha ha!
What the heck is a campfire donut, and what does one smell like in candle form??? Though I like donuts, and I like campfires, so I could potentially be in. I was looking at candles at Target the other day and so many of them had wild names…snuggly sweater? Grey flannel? WTF? π
Oh, cats. The smallest, most inconvenient corner of your house – they will find it, and then squeeze themselves into it and nap.
I am not sure what a campfire donut is. I have never made donuts when I’ve camped! Ha. It smells sweet though, like a donut. I love the sweet smelling candles. Ha ha ha – B&BW has some of those bizarro “scents” too. They are trying to capture coziness in a candle… then they give it a trendy name π
Yes! Then you can’t find them sometimes!
If the scarf pattern doesn’t excite you, browse Ravelry for something that does – TV knitting is the best! Is it wrong that I like the top of that candle? But it must be in the air; we sold a ton of candles and scented items at the gift shop today. People are so ready for cool weather and the holidays!
It does, actually! The pattern would be the first time I did cables! I am scared I will screw it up over and over, ha.
It is not – I actually saved a lid from last year’s pumpkin cupcake candle cause I liked it so much. And good thing I did – this year’s is LAME. I will attach pics when I email this comment. I bet it’s fun selling all that stuff!!!!
Oh then go for it! Cables are a little tricky, but you pretty much know right away if you screw them up…and then you can either learn how to undo it, or keep the mistake as a “feature” – and I’ve read knitting blogs where they do that – and these people are big time knitters, so it must be OK!
Saving the good candle lids is a great idea – agree, this year’s lid is sad.
Oh gosh. I better practice a lot because I don’t want to have any features like that on this scarf! Ha ha ha. Fun that people do that though – I can see it for certain projects!
OMG – the holidays ARE quickly upon us! Last year was our very first year that we had a tree (you know, 11 years of marriage) – we always spent quite a bit of time in either Texas or Colorado when we were living in CA. Your mention of gifts makes me feel quite behind on that part of the holidays. I need to get with it!
You still have two months!!!! But, um, yeah… better get going! π
Will you be home this year and have a tree?
We’ll be in and out of town, but close enough to home that we’ll definitely decorate – we inherited a fake tree, so we’ll put that up! And we’ll do stockings for each other which is really fun. Sammy, our dog, might also get some holiday treats!
Yay! That sounds perfect! I love doing stockings. Love love love it! And of course Sammy should get some treats – and a stocking too!!!!
