- Last night was our first time playing Powerball! We didn’t win. Ha ha. But it was fun to get a ticket and watch the numbers (which I struggled to stay awake for).
- I’ve been posting much more frequently. Why? It gives me something to look forward to first thing in the morning (hitting publish!) and throughout the day (receiving comments and responding). WritingΒ makes me happy. I hope I can keep it up.
- I get to see my newest nephew this weekend! The last time I saw him was November 1!
My hair only looks nice because Christina did it for the family photo
- I’m redeeming a Groupon for a no-chip manicure tonight! It’s my first time getting one. I hope it actually does NOT chip. I am constantly repainting my nails because they get so chipped doing strength training (and other things). On Sunday, the side of one of myΒ thumbnails started to break. I’ve been trying to keep it from breaking more and I hope the no-chip helps it stay together.
- When I switch up my diet (to eat healthier) it can mess with my sleep. So a few times in the past couple of weeks I’ve been awake for an hour or two in the middle of the night. Blah – makes for some tired afternoons! But it will all even out soon (it has before).
- Ha. So, it turns out “Netflix and chill” doesn’t mean what I thought it did… good thing I looked it up on urban dictionary.
- We’ve been forwarding mail from our old townhome to our rental address. Since we’re only at the rental for a short period of time, we decided we didn’t want to change anything officially to that address – we want to wait until we’re at the final address. But manyΒ placesΒ have figured out the rental address and changed our information to it. It kind of creeps me out when I log in to things and see the rental address show up. Anyway… now we’ll have to forward mail from two addresses when we move, I suppose.
- We don’t have a garage at our rental house. No biggie D, but I have to remember to leave time to clean off the car and warm it up before going places… which I’ve obviously forgotten to do, several times. Ha.
Ha! I’m pretty sure Urban Dictionary’s definition of Netflix & Chill doesn’t account for those of us in the over-40 crowd. π
LOL!
What a sweetie your nephew is π
I finally got auto start installed in my car so I can warm up my car while I get ready…in your snowy region it is almost a necessity! It wasn’t pricey at all for my car (it was a groupon)
If the no chip works – pleas share π I have seen a group on and been curious.
What a treat! Steven and I were saying if our final house didn’t have a garage (like it ever wouldn’t but this convo happened, ha), we would get that!!! π
I will! I am a bit dubious π
I swear places have moles in the post-office. I purposefully don’t update my address with my college because they figure out things so quickly. Last year when I moved, I got something from my college less than a month later! ack!
Ha! I have been wondering when something from my university will find me. I actually hoping they would lose my address for good, ha ha.
Netflix and chill, bah ha ha…do I even want to know what prompted you to look it up.
I only play the lottery occasionally, I usually have the money spent in my head right after I buy the ticket but not won a cent yet π
I actually saw someone being made fun of online for not knowing what it meant so that prompted me to look it up!
Ha! Ha ha. It’s fun to fantasize about being able to pay off bills and stuff π
So no proposition by a younger man π I was really hoping for a good story ha ha
Ha! You make me laugh!
So what DID you think Netflix and chill meant? I haven’t thoroughly researched the etymology (LOL. I bet weirder etymologies have been researched, though!), but if it makes you feel any better, I’m pretty sure it grew out of Tinder bios (or online dating bios in general), because I’d estimate that 90% of the profiles you run across on online dating sites/apps somewhere list Netflix as one of the person’s favorite activities. (Seriously, you’d think the “On a typical Friday night, I am…” section of OkCupid is sponsored by Netflix, for how many people list it. Everyone is either hanging out with friends or watching Netflix on Friday nights. Everyone. Creativity and originality does not run deep on OKC.) I’m sure at one point, Netflix and chill was meant at face value: I like to watch Netflix, and generally be lazy. But it became so ubiquitous that it turned into a euphemism, rather than an actual statement. The Internet makes language evolution so interesting! (This probably should’ve come with a gigantic English nerd alert attached hahaha).
I seriously just thought it meant watch Netflix and chill out, like you said! Like how people binge watch Netflix all day. Ha!
Wow! And if that is how it came to be, I get it, now! π I also would not be surprised if that many people were really watching Netflix and chilling, er, being lazy, on a Friday night. That’s what we usually do. LOL
I’m glad you’re back to blogging regularly. It’s fun!
Good luck with your no chip! Mine last for almost three weeks. I absolutely love them. Also, speaking of beauty your hair in that picture looks ah-mazing!
Thanks! π
I hope mine lasts that long!
Thanks! I had to make sure to comment it was NOT me who made it look that way. Ha!
I love no-chip manicures and was on a big kick late last year, but am giving them up for at least a little while to help me with my resolution to save more money! Matt sacrificed getting haircuts so I have to cut his hair now! I suggested he do my nails but not sure how that is going to go π
I’m chuckling to myself about the Netflix and chill. I didn’t find out what that meant till about 1 week ago and last weekend Matt mentioned that phrase and I started laughing. Turns out, he didn’t know the meaning either!
A friend of mine used to always get them and is cutting back for the same reason! I wanted to try it, but I bet I will be back to painting my own after since I have so much polish and enjoy it π
Ha! I told Steven as soon as I found out, and now we joke about it all the time π
I had no reason to ever think “Netflix and chill” was anything other than what it sounds like. Sigh. I’m so old and out of touch.
Ugh, sorry about the sleep problems! Terry is up a lot during the night, which wakes me up, so I guess I have a sleep problem too. They’re the worst!
Enjoy the manicure tonight! I hope it’s just the kind of relaxation and pampering you need π
Exactly. That is how I felt too – why would it mean something else? Ha!
Is he thinking about having a sleep study done? You did that, right? I hope he sleeps better soon!
Thanks! I think it will be just what I need! π
I used to love my no chip manicures. They really don’t chip!!! I’ve always had sleep problems, so I can empathize. And your nephew is a doll! <3
Yay! I am excited to see how I like it!
I think of you often, when I am up in the middle of the night. I should chat you to see if you’re up too. Ha! Not π
Thanks! π
You are going to love it!!!! I just got too busy to maintain them (you get them done ever 2-3 weeks), plus it gets pricey, but SOOO worth it for someone who enjoys having their nails painted. I may start getting them again eventually. And I LOL’d about chatting me up!!! I usually TRY and stay off electronics when I am tossing and turning because that only makes it worse!!!
Yeah, I was wondering about the maintenance! The reason I am redeeming it now is because we live right next to the salon and I think I may still live here when it’s time to have it removed so I can hope right over.
What do you do when you can’t sleep? I usually read the news in my Feedly app. I was wondering if I should get up and knit?!
I normally lay there…and stare at the clock…roll over, think about how much sleep I am NOT getting, roll back over, look at the clock, SIGH…and repeat until I can finally fall asleep. ROFL. I should get up and be productive, really!
OMG. I am learning more and more every day how uncool I am. I never knew about the Netflix and chill reference, either. It was fairly recently that I learned about the slang meaning of “Molly” (I have a friend named Molly). Yikes!
I’ve never had a no-chip manicure, either! In fact, I can count on one hand the number of manicures I’ve ever had, period! (See what I did there? LOL) Looking forward to hearing how it holds up for you!
It’s okay! I certainly did not know Molly until I looked it up right meow (I am assuming you mean definition #1? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=molly), and Steven and Gina had to tell me about Bye, Felicia! Xaarlin taught me about throwing shade. Ha!
Ha ha ha! I like π I have only had one or two before, too. I like to paint them myself!
I noticed that you have been posting more recently; it’s great!
I guess I’ll read about how your manicure is in a more recent post. I like gel manicures because they last so much longer than regular ones, but getting them off is so horrible (and I somehow manage to chip them anyway towards the end). I don’t think I’d pay for one though. I’m fortunate that Harrison’s aunt does them for me when we come home for Christmas.
Thanks!
Yeah, I plan to write what I think about it. I like that I don’t have to worry about all the things I do chipping my nails, but, it’s day 4 and I am seeing little chips already :-/ Not too happy about that! It’s nice Harrison’s aunt does them!
OMG, now I know what “Netflix and chill” means. I didn’t know before.
Buah ha ha!
