Back in April, I picked up this cute tote to hold all my knitting gear, and couldn’t imagine how I’d EVER fill it.
Um, yeah… five months later…
It’s not like I went (too) crazy buying things. I actually received all this knitting gear from my snister:
She tried knitting for awhile and didn’t care for it, so I get all this!
And Mica sent me a bunch of circulars (the ones in the Ziploc bag and the fancy Knit Picks kit!), and Gina got me the cute orange case for my birthday:
Now, to use it all! I picked up yarn two weekends ago for a few projects – some washcloths and cowls for Gina for a silent auction,
Cowls are done!
I had to try this pattern – turned out looking super similar to the waffle pattern
some funky “sponge” yarn to make washcloths for my Grandma,
and yarn to make a birthday present for a friend. Now, what to do with all that extra yarn Christina gave me! Hmm…
Whatever I do, I better move fast, so Data gets his comfy spot back.
I’d actually really like to start knitting some holiday gifts, but I am not sure how I can work on them and NOT post them on the blog. That sounds really hard. Ha.
Yeah i have SO MUCH yarn! I have a box and then a storage plastic bin full. It was on sale for super cheap last year so I went out and bought alot. I need to get better organized. Thats my winter project! Where did you get those bins from??
How do you think you will organize it? I can’t really think of what I have, off hand, with it in these bins (although I post pictures like this on my blog, so I can always look back for the visual!). The bins are from Hobby Lobby 🙂
I am so impressed how your knitting has totally taken off. I kind of wish I had some sort of ‘craft’ that kept my hands busy. Also, you should totally do Christmas presents! My mother-in-law knitted everyone a hat last year and they were such a hit.
Thank you! Do you think you would have time to pick up something like that, now? I bet your schedule is busy busy over there!
I would love to do something like that and have it be a hit. LOL! I’ve asked people if they want hats, scarves, etc. and no one has really said anything!
I always THINK I want to get back into knitting, and then do precisely zero things about it. I have 2 pairs of needles, in two super not-useful sizes, and some random skeins of yarn, but no actual drive to knit anything. Maybe if I had some cute organization / needle rolls to help me? 😉
Are you on ravelry? You could look up what other people have done with your yarn or needles to get inspiration – I bet that would help! Or get some cute organization stuff! 😉 😉 😉
I love the stitch pattern on those washcloths – I was looking at something similar for a sock pattern.
Your yarn storage is so cute! Love those bins. But just you wait…yarn mysteriously multiplies (how is that possible when you are using it for projects??) overnight, and you are gonna need more bins soon!
Did you find anything like that? 🙂
Oh, yeah, it will! I am not sure what to do with leftover yarn… throw it away? JK!!!! I think there is a section on Ravelry where people talk about what they do with the tiny leftover bits?
In my friend Rachel’s old house they had a guest bedroom that had shelves along two walls where she stored ALL her yarn. It was so pretty to see it all lined up.
Oh neat!!!! I bet that would look pretty!
Wow, your knitting collection has really exploded — in a good way! And you’ve ramped up on so many projects. (Seriously, I feel like it took me twenty years to get to where you are!!)
I guess buying yarn is what really makes a collection big (“the stash”). That would really stress me out (Some people have HUGE stashes.), so I keep mine pretty minimal.
Do you keep track of the needles you buy on Ravelry? I do, and I find it super satisfying for some reason.
And I know what you mean about not being able to blog your Christmas presents. It’s sad that I won’t be able to share the socks I’m working on now because I’m proud of them and because they’ve taken up so much time!
It did explode! I was trying to keep it minimal too. Just do projects, use the yarn, and get rid of it if just a little was left. LOL. Not so much, anymore!
I don’t, but I bet that would satisfy me, too! Is it easy to set up?
Those socks you are working on are amazing! Are you going to draft a post about them to publish after?
Oh no this is how it starts soon it’ll be closets full…not even kidding!!!
I can totally see it, lol!
Super cute totes and you kicked ass filling them, haha! My dogs would TOTALLY pile in there too. Who doesn’t love a good comfy spot?
Dang, you are going to be quitting your day job and becoming a professional knitter soon!!
