Side note: Each year, when the geese show up in the spring, I start asking Steven (in a whiny voice, ha ha), “When are we going to see the goslings?!” Each year, he tells me “not for at least a month.” This year the first time I asked him was in April, and he gave me the month answer. To which I said, “But I already waited a month to ask!” He was right though – the first time I saw them was today, in May!

I’ve been a lazy morning runner the last few weeks, but I made sure to get out of bed “early” today and get my run in before it hits the mid 80s here this afternoon. No gracias!

It would be nice to cycle outside this afternoon… if we don’t get those storms they’re predicting!

I saw goslings on Monday! I was so excited.
I planned to get up early today to run. And then I shut off the alarm. Haha. Well, I’ll keep trying. It’s an adjustment.

You’ll get there! Early running does take some work to become routine. It has to become so routine that you move through the motions a bit before you’ve woken up enough to realize what you’re doing, ha!
You inspired me – or cajoled me – or something…but today I got out there and was done with my run by 6:40. When the alarm went off my husband just looked at me. It took me almost 30 seconds to realize why. “Oh, that alarm is for ME!”

So much wildlife on your run! Those baby geese are adorable, and I bet the baby bunny was too 🙂 Though what’s up with the walker with the rude look? Thankfully most people I come across are friendly but the occasional rude glance can really put a damper on things.

I don’t know what his deal was. I saw him coming with his dog and got over and he did too and I smiled and said good morning and got a sneer. Hmm.
My mom had two “in your face” cats yesterday morning. Very much like Little Shop of Horrors. I love seeing the baby geese and ducks because they’re so fuzzy and cute! A few years ago, I was walking to my car after work and two adult geese were taking 10+ babies to the creek to swim.

Some of these geese had a TON of goslings! Then I saw two geese that had one and found myself feeling sad for them. For geese. LOL!
Yikes! Does Mr. Creepy Crawly live nearby or is that a picture from your trip to the Amazon?! Yes, I ran early and did not like feeling “forced” to get out there before it got hot. Winter/Spring weekend long runs that would start at a leisurely 8:30 (because the temps are comfortable all day), will now have to start at 6:30am. Womp! Is it fall yet? 🙂

Sigh. So long are our days of late run starts. You know I could do a long rant about the heat. I am so happy someone else relates! I feel like a crab! (Now, if I was on the beach… it would be great!)
Yes, heat and the beach go together. But since I’m rarely on the beach, I only need it to be hot about two days a year. I also want to be crabby, but I need to try and get adjusted to the temps and learn to run through whatever Mother Nature throws at me even when it is stifling temperatures and humidity! 🙂

Yay for considerate cyclists! Incidentally, I was on a Divvy bike this morning and some driver yelled at me for not using a bike lane (even though I was on a street that doesn’t even have one). So let’s give some applause for drivers when they are considerate, too, haha.

So, is Mr. Creepy Crawly a baby lobster, or what? T and I stumbled (quite literally, I almost tripped and knocked him down because I was so grossed out) over a couple of those at Half Day a month or so ago. What are those???
He looks like it, right? I think it might be a type of crayfish. The LFCPD site lists that they’ve had quite a few of them documented in the preserves (apparently there are lots of variations). I am happy you didn’t fall on them! EWWW

Sooooo cute!! Baby anything is cute (almost anything). Those weird plants are May apples. They will get a really pretty flower underneath the leaves sometime in May.
The heat is getting to me…my friend and I ran at 3 yesterday and then I remembered that you can’t just run whenever you want when it’s warm!

I saw that crayfish at a forest preserve right by my house. I wasn’t squeamish. I thought he was funny. That is odd that you are okay with them though, and not other spiders and insects! Maybe it’s his scale?
