Buah ha ha. You guys can totally tell what this pattern I knit is, right? RIGHT?!
Oh, maybe a close-up would help:
What, you still can’t tell?!
Any last guesses before I show you the pattern?
Ha. That monstrosity, is supposed to be this:
No, not a knitted scene of Data, Steven’s slipper, and an arrow pointing to a knitted pattern of three cats, ha ha. It supposed the pattern the arrow is pointing to.
Um, yeah.
Even Data knew it was crap. Look at that judgy face when I was getting started!
Seriously, mom? You’re such a loser.
I could kind of tell after the first few rows that the pattern was not going to turn out. But I decided to keep going for practice. And now… I get to practice un-doing the whole thing and hand winding a ball of yarn! Ha!
The good news is, I can read a pattern. The bad news is, I can’t tell which patterns are bad, simply by looking at them. Eh. I was kind of bored after knitting a washcloth with an “I” monogram and wanted to try something different. And now I did. Ha ha.
Steven and I are actually looking for a pattern for a knitted laptop sleeve (for me to make), but I can’t find one that we both really like that isn’t crocheted. The search continues!
Hee hee.
We learn from our knitting failures (is what I keep telling myself, lol). Are you on Ravelry yet? If not, you should join – it’s free, and there are a bunch of laptop sleeve patterns for knitting (I just did a quick search).
Yes! I definitely learned! And I am on Ravelry 🙂 This is the one we liked the most, but I would do it in one color. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/basket-weave-laptop-sleeve My husband asked if it can have a flap that comes over and buttons in, and I don’t know how to do that, and I also don’t know how to do the finishing crochet work on it!
My mom’s starting to knit a lot more and has gotten a ball winder to help out. I tried learning to knit and crochet but I don’t have the patience for it.
Maybe I will get one of those some day, if I really get in to it! I am trying not to have too many gadgets, ha ha.
Well just look at all the practice you’re getting! 🙂 Love Data’s “comments”. LOL!
Data is so snarky 😉
Ah!! I was originally going to say a fish… But I can definitely make out the cats head and tail. Just seems like a too busy pattern for it to come out really good 🙂 im super impressed with your knitting skills!!
Yeah, WAY too busy! I meant to skip the patch on the last cat’s chest and forgot, and that definitely didn’t help!
If you switched yarn colors for the different cats would it turn out better?! Mrow!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh gosh, yeah, but that would be so complicado… I think I should have just knitted ONE cat. Always with all the cats. LOL. Mrow!
lol… I love it! It seems like a pretty ambitious project but I hope the next one turns out better. I always have half finished knitting projects laying around. I really need to finish a couple of them some day 🙂
The yarn shop had a name for that… an acronym for having a bunch of unfinished projects. Darn it, it was kind of funny and I can’t remember what it was!
Data makes me smile 🙂
Okay,it really doesn’t look that bad…I see a kitty in there.
Hilarious! I thought it was a fish, too, same as Xaar. But, can totally see the beginnings of a cat there, now that you mention it. Love the photos of Data’s expression!!!
wow you are already reading patterns? Great job
Judgey face. Haha! I’d take one look at that pattern and think it was too complex for me. I’m sure it is since I don’t knit! :p
I wonder if you’d switched colors if you’d like the pattern better? I love that you are trying out more and more complicated knitting projects 🙂
Aaahh, I see your snis said the same thing 🙂
In my opinion you are very clever and the cat is a big help: as a model and as an apprentice knitter.
I wouldn’t say it was a total fail because your knitting turned out okay. The pattern is so weird though–there is not enough contrast for the design to show through. Ravelry has some weird stuff…and you’re like, “Wait, did you even knit this once to test it?!?”
What does Data want you to knit next?
Thanks 🙂 I was really proud of myself for reading the pattern off of the squares and remembering when to knit and purl depending on RS/WS. I think I need to send you patterns I am thinking of and you can tell me if they will suck (or… I could read more reviews!).
Hmmm. I think Data wants me to knit him some little kitty toys to chew apart 🙂
