It’s hard to believe that a week ago today I was on the beach! It feels like it was such a long time ago!
Gosh, we had a wonderful day on the river. Since it was a Tuesday, there was hardly anyone out. We had the beach to ourselves, and the water was super smooth – perfect for jet skiing (or if you are my husband… too boring for jet skiing without any waves to jump, ha ha)! The skies were clear and the air and water felt fantastic. I did NOT want to leave and go home. Hee hee – I never want to!
But it was really the perfect way to “end” summer.
Do you have an event that feels like it marks the end of summer?
When we go to the Mississippi River for Labor Day, it feels that way to me. I know that after that, I probably won’t get in to a body of water again until the next year, and summer is all about swimming and the beach to me, so when I know I’ve had my last time in the water… I am ready for summer to be over. Bring on the cool temps!
Ha ha, when I saw my mom in July at the dragway, she was saying how excited she was for Gina and family to visit for Labor Day… but that she was sad at the same time, because that would mean summer is over. I told Gina that and she said “We’re the Summer Enders!” Ha ha. Then we would joke about how the “Summer Enders” were coming. Hey! They can end my summer each year, if they want!
Until next year!
Labor Day weekend always does feel like the end of summer for me. We generally have a camping trip in September and that seals the deal. We often have a beach trip in May and that always feels like the beginning of summer.
Summer usually feels like it kicks off with a trip to the beach for me, too, which isn’t until July sometimes! Is it warm where you go in May?
Wow great pictures. Makes me want to buy a boat (and a summer house)! Are there any big boats going down the Mississippi you have to watch out for?
Huge barges go down, and some pretty big boats, too!
I remember when I was a kid, the last week before school started, my mom let us pick a couple of activities that we could do “one last time” before fall started. We always went bowling and out for lunch one day, and miniature golf and out for ice cream another one. I haven’t thought about that in forever!
Aww, that is such a fun memory! 🙂 Did you guys not ever bowl during the school year?
Not really. It was much cheaper on Mondays in the summer ($1 each for games and shoe rental), and my mom loved a good bargain. We also got cokes during the 5th frame of every game, because it was the “beer frame.”
Looks like an awesome weekend! I think for me summer ending is more about weather than any particular event.
Awww I love that pic of you and Luca! Looks like it was another wonderful day at the beach!
‘The Summer Enders’ sounds like it could be some sort of horror movie. They show up and BAM! you’re living a cold, dark nightmare. Muahahahahah.
Thanks! It was another perfect day like our last day there! 🙂
Ha ha ha. Should this be part of Ciao Bitch?
Labor day is always sad for me…the end of the summer is hard! Even tho it is still nice time of year, you know what’s around the corner…
