1. Medals (derrrrr)
2. Bibs
3. Spectator posters!

I like to think I am good at purging things and don’t hold on to too much sentimental schtuff, but a quick glance around my closet (where I keep most of these things) and you’d see that’s not 100% true.
At least the medals and bibs are nice and organized and in a designated spot. The homemade race posters, well, not so much. A few pinned up in my closet, one in Data’s room, two on the dining room table (ha ha), one floating around the office (funny thing – it’s the one with two gray cats on top, and Data keeps attacking those cats!)… they’re just not as easy to store.
But I can’t imagine getting rid of them. At least until we move or something, hee hee.
I know what a pita it is to make a race poster. And dayum, people have made me some nice ones! It’s such a thoughtful gesture to take the time to make a poster specifically for someone (and to go spectate for them, as well) and I really appreciate it! I look at them, and I feel loved. So it’s kind of nice to have them all over the house. Right… right?!
Funny thing – when my mom came to spectate our first half marathon, she didn’t know about making spectator signs. So I was like, “Are you going to make me one?” And gave her supplies to do it. Ha ha ha, I am awful, right?!
But now she does it on her own, and she comes up with such clever stuff! I love it!
Do you keep the race posters that your spectators make for you?
I don’t generally keep the posters if the race gave an official one. And I had no problem ditching the ones I made for Christina and Will’s wedding!
I love this so much. I do have some signs, but not all of them.
That new medal rack is all kinds of awesome!
I’m surprised Christina didn’t want to keep your signs! But I’m sure they are in a zillion pictures 🙂

Hmm. I think I told her I was throwing them away but taking pictures, and she was probably cool with that 🙂

Aww, I have only had one person EVER make me a homemade sign. If they went to the trouble to do it, I would definitely keep it, and laminate it or something for the running room or the Mo Cave. My goal in life is to find someone to make a giant head of me on a stick for the Chicago Marathon, haha.

I don’t keep any of those things that you just mentioned! Kinda wish I did though. At our small races in this area, people don’t normally make signs, so I don’t have any of those!

Data’s room? Can we get a tour?
Ha ha. It’s just the laundry room, which is where we keep his stuff and subsequently call it “Data’s room.”
At our last place, our second bedroom was tiny and became a storage room. It was also where we kept Olive’s litter box, and would keep her contained if someone with cat allergies came over. We sometimes referred to it as “Olive’s room” 🙂
I WISH I had organized my bibs. I have them all paper clipped together but should really do something like that soon!
Gone for a Run makes these cool BibFolios, and I have seen neat things to organize them on Etsy, too!
I am all about keeping my race signs! They are hilarious and good memories!
Aw, your posters are awesome! I haven’t had anyone make me a race poster (hubby is slacking!) so I don’t have a collection of those, but I do keep all of my medals and bibs. My bibs are just in a Ziploc bag and are not as nicely organized as yours. 🙂

I don’t know if anyone has made me a race poster (maybe you and Steven did for Chicago 2009?), but I’ve never kept any. I think I would though–at least for awhile–because like you said, it’s a lot of work to make one!
