I try to keep negative thoughts to myself, but I had to write this in hopes it would make me feel better. Hopefully I will be in better spirits tomorrow… or after I hit publish!
Oh! Look! It’s raining boxes in our neighborhood!
Wow! Some ended up in the marsh! That’s odd…
Hmm, how did these boxes get here? What a fun game to find them all!
Sigh.
Steven usually works from home every day, but was gone yesterday for meetings. Today he noticed that FedEx said they delivered a package yesterday, but he didn’t get it. “Why don’t we look in the marsh,” I suggested.
We found some of our stuff, and boxes for three other houses. Someone took the boxes from all the houses facing the street, and opened them destroyed some items and scattered the rest around. We still don’t know where some of our stuff is.
I know that this is not a big deal. This week has been awful for many people dealing with Hurricane Sandy (and other real problems). I shouldn’t be upset. But this really made me sad. One of the packages for someone else was fresh pears from Harry & David. I bet those were a gift. One of the boxes for someone else had a food mix in it that was opened.
I didn’t put our Halloween pumpkin out, because I was afraid someone would vandalize it. Now I feel less crazy. But, I still feel sad.
Anyone have a good story from their day to cheer me up?
That’s terrible. 🙁
🙁 do you have a HOA? I would complain to them. Does your subdivision have a FB page? Some people i know have complained or alerted the adults because the teens were messing around.
I’m sorry.
P.s. I have been wondering how your friends in NY have been doing?
We do have a HOA. No FB page. They are kind of worthless when we have issues, so we’ll file a police report tomorrow and that’ll be it 😉
Our friends in NYC are good! They didn’t lose power at all this week, but their neighborhood is quite torn up. Public transit is starting to work again in their area, so they are starting to get out and about.
That’s terrible! And the worse part is that it’s probably someone in your neighborhood. This is always my biggest fear with ordering things. Hope your stuff turns up soon lady!
Ha ha. I want to look on the trail behind our house to see if it’s back there. We can’t use it if we find it – it’s food items.
Well that is just horrible. We were just talking last night about how our neighborhood kids were so nice. I hate that people do that and are mean to other people.
What a bummer! The pears make me extra sad. When I saw your heading about negative thoughts, I was like “ooh, I have a TON of negative things going through my mind right now that I’d love to get out.” But honestly, this isn’t you being negative or complaining about something silly or trivial – this is just sad 🙁
I wish I had a good story, but I’ve been in the kind of funk this week that nothing but a discount bag of Halloween candy could fix. Although I just watched one of my dogs run into a tree while totally cruising another dog on our walk, like full on cartoon-style. She’s okay, so I feel less bad for thinking it was funny. Does that help?
Aww, what are your negative thoughts? Stress with getting stuff figured out at work before you go?
Ha! Yes. The dog story is VERY funny. Thank you 😀
I hope your funk leaves soon! Maybe the race will cheer you up!
Nah, work seems to be under control – the important stuff is taken care of, and everything else can wait until I get back. I think it’s just general wedding stress and anxiety, since it finally sunk in that it’s just a week away!
Wow that makes me livid! What a horrible, stupid thing to do. Asses. There was pumpkin smashing going on in a neighborhood near mine. The neighbors chased the offenders and cornered them because there’s only one entrance. The other one is gated. Ha!
Ha ha ha! Then what did they do?
Someone smashed all the pumpkins on the street where my trainer lives, the night before Halloween. So there were pumpkin guts all over the street. WTF.
Why do these assholes think Halloween = free pass on vandalism? Makes me furious.
I would be really upset if this happened to us too! I always worry about something like this happening when we order stuff online.
The last two years I’ve worried about our pumpkins but they’ve been left alone. I was really worried this year because Isaac’s took FOREVER but they were left alone. I have memories from childhood…. every halloween my pumpkin got smashed. The kicker to all of this is right now I live by college students. If anyone were to smash the pumpkins you think it’d be them.
oh my gosh, why would someone DO that???? Absolutely ridiculous. I’m sorry it happened to you. 🙁
What asshats! I’ve got nothing else to say. 🙁
Kids are such jerks.
T-Rex hates packages.
Wow, that really sucks. I worry every time I send a package to friends and family in the US because of the way the packages get left on the front porch where anyone could take them… I totally understand why it made you sad.
Do they do something different where you live – not leave them on the porch?
Okay, I would be SO PISSED!!!!! I’m glad you’re filing a police report. Granted, the cops probably won’t do anything but, still. It establishes a pattern in case it happens again. Which I really hope it doesn’t. It’s just so frustrating because you feel so helpless when stuff like this happens. Grrrr! Now I’m all fired up!
Ah man, that just plain sucks! Sorry that was the icing on your crappy day. : ( Sigh – what is wrong with people!? Wish I could have been there to stop those punks! Hiii-yah!
What a bunch of jerks!! I would be so mad. 🙁 I’m sorry, that is awful. I usually get all my packages delivered to work when I lived in my apartment. We have some hooligan kids down the street and I am worried this might happen when they get older (they are only about 11 and 12 now and have already gotten kicked out of public school). I hope you find all your stuff!!!
Ugh! I hate that you have crazy kids on your street too 🙁
We found out more was missing but didn’t find it. But we filed a police report and the cop caught one kid in the act on Friday (stealing another neighbor’s stuff).
That’s so awful and mean! I hope that you and everyone else is able to get the packages replaced. I know Amazon is good about that when something gets stolen.
One person did have an Amazon package so I hope they replaced it for him!
That is so sad. We used to have this giant paper mache pumpkin that my brother and I made when we were little. One Halloween some teenagers took it and smashed it. I was so upset.
But to remind us that there is humanity in the world, there is a guy who hands out cash (this year it was $100 bills) every Halloween in Portland.
That is horrible!
