What’s the strangest/funniest thing you’ve ever seen on a gift registry? Have you ever put anything strange/funny on one for yourself?
We’re going to a wedding next week, and I totally geeked out when I saw my friends had the monkey bathroom decor from Target on their registry. We got them the trash can and shower curtain. We have an on-going joke that Steven loves monkey themed things* so it made me laugh even more.
Should I keep doing Friday Questions? Aren’t they kind of cheesy?
I really fall behind in doing Friday Questions. Right now I have a list of quite a few I could ask, but what do you guys think – keep them? Yay or nay?
Also – if I am quiet next week it is because I am stressed at work. I had an awful week that will continue in to next week. I am hoping things will quiet down the week after Labor Day.
*Everytime I travel someplace new, I try to find Steven a stuffed monkey with a locale-specific shirt. Steven has so many he keeps them in the closet and calls them “closet monkeys.”
I like the Friday question! If you need ideas, let me know. I have two books of questions just for this purpose π
I still can’t believe that trashcan. Every time I look at it I think it’s a cookie jar.
When we registered for our wedding we put a bunch of power tools on the registry. That surprised people but, hey, we needed them!
You should send me ideas! I have books and games I use, but sometimes I just feel like nothing is fresh!
It looks like a cookie jar to me too. Yum… cookies… π
I heart friday questions π
Sorry to hear your work week is not so good…I always wonder what’s up when you get quiet. I hope things settle down soon!
My friends had a strange thing on their wedding registry but for the life of me I can’t think of what it was. I think it was a very trivial item and it just amused me.
I like the Friday question!
I don’t answer them all the time, but I love Friday questions!
My friend recently got married and her new husband added a bunch of junk to their registry — including Hamburger Helper.
I think the strangest things on my baby registry were nursing pads. My sister-in-law, who is barely 19 and has zero children bought them for me. I can’t decide which is more bizarre, the fact that I registered for them or the fact that she was the one to buy them for me!
My husband HAD to have the sham woo on our registry. And when my matron of honor bough it he was so excited!
I love the monkey stuff at target, I have the salt and pepper shaker, the door mat and two pot holders!
I like the friday question! π
When we registered for our wedding, J. Alabama was over the moon about registering for Guinness Beer glasses. Not that it’s that crazy, but it was definitely a “HIM” present. And low and behold, someone purchased them for us! I like to be on the look out for those funny gifts too –I think it’s more memorable for everyone that way!
I once put a vibrator on my wishlist. No one bought it for me. π
A friend of mine had a honeymoon registry for her recent wedding. You could donate money to their airfare, car rental, hotel, food, and various museums.
I guess it is a really cool idea if you have a lot of stuff, but for some reason it bothered me that I felt like I was paying for someone else to go on vacation.
omgosh, too awesome. i would have bought that for them too! π i really haven’t seen anything quirky enough to remember.
i’ve seen some weird stuff, but of course i can’t think of it right now! some unique things i do remember though, were:
-being able to buy individual pieces of a new car for the couple
-buying days or activities for the new couple’s honeymoon
-having a charity website as part of the registry, where you could buy chickens for a village or clean water or school books etc. i loved that one!
The charity idea is awesome!
Yay to Friday questions…even though I’m so behind reading that it’s Monday now π
Closet monkeys made me LOL so loud the chick in the next cube jumped out of her chair. It’s a good Monday now. LOL
Sending you calming thoughts for your stressful week!
E
I love the Friday question! Even if I don’t reply, I like that it makes me think a little bit during the week.
related: My ex used to be terrified of monkeys, so when he was younger (and even not that young) his mom would threaten to get a spider monkey to torture him as punishment.
