Do you write with expensive or cheap disposable pens?
Return of the Friday Question! Yikes, it’s been awhile. I lost my FQ mojo. Do you guys think I should keep the Friday Question going?
So this week I ate lunch with a coworker then stopped at a pen store afterward so she could order fancy pens for her nephew and his girlfriend for graduation. Guys, these pens were not cheap. I couldn’t believe how expensive they were! But they sure were gorgeous. And she was having their initials engraved on them too.
It made me wonder if any of you are in to pens. I had a friend in college who was. And a lot of my architecture classmates had pen preferences. But for me, I will always prefer the Pilot G-2 05. It is a very fine gel pin that writes beautifully (and it’s not very expensive). When I googled it, I found this facebook goup – “Pilot G2-05 is the Best Pen… Ever.” Ha ha. I concur.
These look fun too, but maybe not very practical?
I have several pricey fountain pens that I love. So I guess I’m kind of a snob like that!
Maybe I’ve never had a pen nice (expensive) enough. But I also do not like the cheapest pens either. I suppose I’m on the more expensive end of disposable pens?
I’m always afraid that I’ll lose an expensive pen, but I do love those gel ballpoints! I’ve actually asked my Korean officemate to bring me back some fine (really fine!) tip pens from Korea so I can write my Korean letters more neatly.
I always use cheap pens, but I usually have a favorite that just “feels” right that I hide from everyone else….
Do you actually own those Star Wars pens? If you do – WHERE DID YOU GET THEM? Father’s Day is quickly approaching 🙂

At my previous job pens grew legs and walked off of everyone’s desk so there was no way I could hold onto a nice pen! In high school and college, though, I had my favorites. I don’t remember what they were off hand but I could pick them out of a line up 🙂
Now my favorites are the freebies I get from our shredding and storage vendor or the freebies I get from the vendor we use to order give-away swag. I’m not too picky about the type of pen but I prefer black ink to blue.
you know those pens that are in a pencil? like they look like a pencil but they are a pen? oh my gosh, i would go to great lengths to get those…and they are hard to find.
My pens are so boring compared to those! I use pens from drug companties, usually…and they’re nice most of the time 🙂
I prefer cheap pens, but there is a particular kind of ballpoint with a soft exterior that I like the best.
I like your Friday questions! But I fully support you following your mojo whereever it takes you. Maybe you need to shake it up with a new Friday feature?

I always buy the cheap Papermate blue ball point pens. I’ve used expensive ones, and yah, theyre fine, but I really like the blue Papermate ones the best. They cost like $2 for a box, and they have a lid that I can wrap an elastic around for flipping through paperwork. I dont like anything else.

I’m in love with Sharpie’s ultrafine pens (pens, not markers). I love that the black, blue, red, and green all match each other so I can color code my planner. (nerd!) I accidentally bought just the ‘fine’ ones the other day though, and that was a severe disappointment.

I love pilot precise v7. Also – NOT cheap, but I grade a ton and really prefer a pen that I like. I think it makes me less frustrated when I grade!
I don’t use expensive pens but I don’t use cheap ones either. A couple bucks each and I make it last forever and hunt for it if it disappears from my desk due to a sticky fingered coworker.
I have the Chewbacca pen. Not easy to use and the threading on the tip is bad do I can’t open it to swap the dead ink cartridge.
I’m not that particular about pens. There are some I like better than others, but as long as they write well, I don’t really care.
My husband, on the other hand, loves his Cross pens.
I love the Friday questions! I don’t really care what kind of pen it is in terms of expense, but I get very territorial about my pens. As in, I get really miffed when the one I like to write with has gone missing, and I will search high and low for it. 🙂
Most of my note taking is done with generic pens like Bics, but for more serious writing, I use a Cross pen. It’s the only pen that is comfortable to use, I’ve never had to shake it or write on a page for minutes trying to flow the ink out. I think I’ve had it for over 20 years, too. It’s been refilled numerous times and still remains in perfect shape.
I have never had an expensive pen… but I like pens that write nice (including some super cheap pens!). Currently I love the G-2 pens that you mentioned. I don’t always write nice with them but at least they flow well.
